Emergency contact
A person, not on the trip, whom the operator can reach if something happens to a traveller. Collected on the roster before departure.
What is Emergency contact?
The emergency contact is the person a captain calls after an accident, an illness or an SOS. It should be someone reachable during the trip and not travelling in the same group, since the whole group may be affected by the same event.
For minors, the guardian is the primary contact and a second guardian number plus an alternate adult are standard, because the first number is unreachable more often than organisers expect.
On a live trip
Make emergency contact a required roster field and chase blanks by phone before departure. In an emergency this is the one column nobody can fill in later.
