Push notification
A message delivered to a phone's lock screen by an app, even when the app is closed, used to make sure trip updates are seen.
What is Push notification?
Push notifications reach travellers who have the app installed, regardless of whether they are looking at it. They are more reliable than hoping someone scrolls back through a chat, and cheaper than SMS, which in India also requires template registration.
Push depends on the traveller having installed the app and allowed notifications, so a trip that relies on push needs to know who has joined and who has not.
On a live trip
Track app join status on the roster before departure, and fall back to SMS or a call for anyone who has not joined.
