OTP login
Signing in with a phone number and a one-time password sent by SMS, instead of a username and password.
What is OTP login?
OTP login suits travellers because there is no account to create and no password to forget: the phone number on the roster is the identity. It suits operators because the number the traveller logs in with is the number the captain can call.
In India, OTP SMS is sent through a registered sender header and template under TRAI's DLT framework, which is why reputable apps show a consistent sender name.
On a live trip
Invite travellers by SMS or WhatsApp link, and they log in with the number on the roster. Keep roster numbers accurate, with country codes, or the invite goes nowhere.
