Twin sharing

Two travellers in one room with two separate beds. The default basis for group tour pricing in India.

What is Twin sharing?

Most group tour prices are quoted "on twin sharing basis", meaning the per-person price assumes two people share a room. Twin usually means two single beds; a double room has one larger bed and is what couples normally get.

The twin-sharing assumption creates the single supplement problem: a solo traveller either pays extra for a room alone or is paired with a stranger of the same gender, which must be agreed in advance.

On a live trip

Record sharing and room type separately on the rooming list. "Twin sharing" tells the hotel two beds; "double" tells it one. Pairing strangers needs both travellers told before departure.
