Single supplement
The extra amount a solo traveller pays to have a room alone when the tour price assumes twin sharing.
What is Single supplement?
Because hotels charge per room and tours are priced per person on twin sharing, a traveller who wants a room alone pays roughly the second bed's share. Operators call this the single supplement. Some waive it by pairing solo travellers of the same gender who agree to share.
Clear single supplement terms before booking prevent arguments at check-in, where the alternative is the captain negotiating rooms in the lobby.
On a live trip
Flag single rooms on the rooming list and in payment status so the supplement is collected before departure, not after the hotel has handed over a key.
