Checkpoint
A planned moment in the itinerary where the captain confirms the whole group is present before the group moves on.
What is Checkpoint?
Checkpoints are chosen where groups lose people: boarding transport, leaving a rest stop, starting a trail, arriving at camp. Each gets a headcount. Naming checkpoints in advance turns headcounts from a habit some captains have into a routine every departure follows.
A checkpoint is also where the itinerary meets reality. The gap between scheduled and actual time at each checkpoint is your delay log for the next batch.
On a live trip
List the checkpoints per day before the departure starts, with scheduled times taken from the itinerary. Captains tick them off; ops sees which ones were skipped.
